Much Ado About Much of Nothing

|

The Tim Tebow commercial which aired during the Super Bowl was supposed to lead to the destruction of life as we know it. This was the event that the Mayans warned would end the world.

Or not.

I'm waiting to hear a lot of backtracking today. More than likely, though, those who made such a ruckus will pretend nothing happened. Maybe being exposed for the Chicken Littles that they were will wake a few people up. I doubt it.

I hope the good folks at Focus on the Family are enjoying all the free press the pro-abortion folks have given them. This tempest in a teacup is still providing press this morning as most news outlets are discussing how non-controversial the ad was. Even the celebrity gossip website TMZ is shocked that this benign commercial was the source of so much hoopla:

After weeks of hype and outrage, the Super Bowl commercial with Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow finally aired Sunday night -- so what was all the fuss about?

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what the rest of us have been asking since the story on the Tim Tebow commercial first broke: What is all this fuss about?

In case you missed the ad, take a look for yourself:

Wisdom From 1961

|
My daughter alerted me tonight to this YouTube video regarding government-run health care. Though spoken way back in 1961, the wisdom still holds true today. My daughter would like to clone Reagan; I would just like to see some bold Americans stand up to lead this country on a Conservative path.

O'Bama and O'Brother

President Obama publicly claimed Irish ancestry during yesterday's St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

"People help you discover a lot about yourself when you're running for president. As has been mentioned, it was brought to my attention last year that my great-great-great grandfather on my mother's side hailed from a small village in County Offaly," Obama said. "Now, when I was a relatively unknown candidate for office, I didn't know about this part of heritage, which would have been very helpful in Chicago. So I thought I was bluffing when I put the apostrophe after the O. I tried to explain that 'Barack' was an ancient Celtic name."

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Ireland Brian Cowan called Senator Ted Kennedy "our most special Irishman."

Yes, very special. Lots of Irish get drunk but so few let a woman drown. Despite all the premature memorials in his honor, including knighthood, due to his brain tumor, I will always consider Ted Kennedy to be a blight on the Irish.

Why I am a Conservative Republican

Conservative Republican:

"We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.

"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates." - Sarah Palin

Liberal Democrat:

"Look, I got [sic] two daughters -- 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby." - Barack Obama
