Why Read Plutarch?
Mama Squirrel points out today to readers that Plutarch's Lives made a list of the Top Twenty Books No One Reads. This caught my eye since I just posted on Plutarch last week. I was happy to see that my kids and I have read three of the books on the top twenty list. It's another reason I'm thankful for Charlotte Mason and Ambleside Online. I never would have dared to start 4th graders on Shakespeare and Plutarch if it were not for the Ambleside curriculum. One can live without reading these books but they have added such an amazing depth to our studies. Our knowledge of history, warfare, politics, religion, and moral character is constantly enriched by each play or life we read.
