Investing in Art

My favorite art gallery got two new pieces this weekend.

This is "Royal Palm" by The Artist Known as S...

...and this is "Loblolly Pine" by The Artist Known as D.

For nature study last week, I had the children observe their adopted trees and then paint them with watercolors. Their works were too large for their nature journals, so I've displayed them in frames in the hallway where they can be seen from the children's rooms. I love that hanging up children's art in the home has become a trend in parenting. I think it's an easy way to foster creativity. I always feel a bit off when I walk into a home with giant canvases of the children on every wall but original paintings by pint-sized artists make me smile.

I have mother-bias, as D has informed me, but I think the paintings are lovely.
