Road Trip

| | Comments (0)

I'm lucky to have a husband who enjoys vacation planning. He takes care of all the details and I just pack and show up.

There's been one trip H has wanted to take for years - Washington D.C. - and the stars finally alligned recently to make it possible.

We waited 'til nearly the last minute to tell the kids; we didn't want something to change our plans and then have to tell the kids we couldn't go. That would be too cruel.

Long before dawn on Friday, April 17, we loaded our minivan up and began our long trek north.

And because we are the worst parents ever we took photos of the kids at every state border.

We didn't drive straight to DC, though. First, we made a stop at a special location in Virginia.

A Different View Point

From Arab4Christ:

Hello,
I just found your blog and it seems very interesting. I am an Arab college student from Damascus, Syria and I accepted Christ as My Lord and Savior several months ago. Are you interested to hear the other point of view concerning the Israeli-Arab conflict? If so, I would be glad to share it!
Have a great day!

Congratulations and welcome to the Body of Christ! I am sure it can't be easy to be a Christian from a predominantly Muslim country. I also imagine that Arab-Israeli conflicts often make life stressful and fearful. I have very strong views regarding Israel and will not waver in my support of her; however, a wise person told me today that I should try to be Christ-like in my reply here. In an attempt to follow that advice, I invite you to please contribute your point of view in a comment here and I will add it to this post. Though our beliefs may differ, I believe peaceable disagreement is possible amongst followers of Christ.

Trendy 2009 Colors

| | Comments (0)

The hot colors of 2009 have been announced and Sunshine Yellow is numero uno. I don't hold much stock in style trends, but I do suspect these "experts" got their ideas from hanging around my house. *wink*

Other 2009 colors are moss green, lavender, gray, earthy brown, beach tones, sky blue, and (Heavens forbid) dusty rose. Somewhere around 1988 to 1990, I had an entire room of dusty rose. It was lovely and screamed estrogen-filled thirteen-year-old. As the stylists say though, don't follow a fashion trend twice.

Archimedes and Pi

Am I the only person who not only crochets an anthropomorphic Pi, but also heads out (while sick) on a cold and blustery day with a text of Euclidean geometry for a photo shoot?

Euclid and Pi

Just checking.

This is the Pi pattern I previously posted about. I probably would not have made it save for the fact that D has been Pi crazy lately. She's currently memorizing it for fun. Right now she's up to fifteen decimal places: 3.141592653589793.

To aid her in her interest, I've also been mining the internet for Pi links and have many saved at my Delicious. You might find these helpful if you too know a Pi lover.
